Plans for 2024

All the cottage, home and life plans for 2024! My goals for this year involve finishing small projects and seeing what else happens!

Are we near the end of January already?!  This year, I’m taking things a bit slower/easier on the blog – hence why I’m only sharing my plans for 2024 now.  Either way, it will give a bit of insight into things we have in the works personally, things I’d like to do get done around the house and even a review of what we accomplished last year.

We’re coming off of completing the cottage we started building way back in 2021.  There was a mad dash to get the last projects finished in the spring so that we could list the cottage on Airbnb, and we made it.  Of course, I listed it later than I wanted, and we still have a few small projects to do.  But it’s been going well so far :)

Check out my Plans for 2023 post to see the big list of what we had to do.

Cottage Plans/Recap

Here’s what everything looked like at the end of May last year.  Since then I’ve painted a forest mural and a flower mural, (and a water mural but I didn’t make a blog post yet).  Plus completed some other organization/cleaning/misc. tasks.  Here is a small list of what we still need to do:

  • Paint rainbow/stripes mural in the twin bedroom
    • Paint/repair dresser
  • DIY wall sconce for living room mural (and hang sconce in twin bedroom)
  • Add designated firepit area on beach
  • Dock? Hot tub?
  • Build shed (maybe this year?  Maybe next year?)

In the summer, we typically had guests every other weekend ish?  Then busy in the fall with the leaves, but the winter has been slow so far.  We have an upcoming winter booking, and a couple booked for the summer already – so hopefully it continues to go well :)

Home Plans

We slowly started working on our basement at the end of last year, and we need to finish it.  Fun fact, I wanted to move our hot water tank and reorganize the laundry room – but our old HWT stopped working (and flooded) so we went with a tankless system.  Now we don’t need to reorganize that room, but there are some little things I want to do.

I’ve also ordered a new door for outside, and we added drywall to the first section of our ceiling.  We need to add a couple of small pieces to finish the wall where we moved an outlet and then get everything taped/mudded.  Bathroom-wise, the Husband convinced me not to change the footprint of the room.  But as a compromise, I want to move the location of the door.  Then we’ll renovate in that room.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the projects:

  • Laundry room storage organization
  • New lights/switch in laundry room
  • Bathroom door swap
  • Exterior door swap
  • Renovate bathroom
  • Finish drywall

Elsewhere in our house, we may or may not update the last bedroom (aka Félix’s striped room).  I want to, of course, it’s just not a priority right right now.  I also have baseboards to swap in the living room.  But again, not a priority (slash I don’t want to cut them when it’s winter and cold in the garage, ha).

Speaking of the garage, we need to do a major overhaul/clean sweep in there.  And yeah, I want the driveway asphalted (this has been on the list since 2020!)

Personal Plans for 2024

Last year, I had a personal goal to publish a book in 2023.  I have since written a few books – but I didn’t really know what was involved with publishing until I started researching (and writing) in May.  Honestly, I still have writing goals (and plans) so that will spill over into this year too.

Oh, and I wouldn’t be upset if we had another big project (like a house) to do.  Ha!

Otherwise, we’ll just be chugging along to finish things up :)

see you next time nicole text image
