It’s already the starting of April, and guess what I woke up to this morning? Some little snow flurries all over the ground! We had unusually warm weather in March, then got a big dumping of snow (about a foot), and then it was back to rain and melting. I guess we can’t quit the snow + winter yet! If you want to find out all about my recap for the month of March and my plans for April 2016, then you’ve come to the right place :)

What Happened in March?
As promised at the beginning of last month, I showed pictures of our Master Bedroom, shared photos from our roadtrip to Florida, and asked your opinion on whitewashing vs. painting the basement panelling. I also got crafty with a baby shower game idea, painted and frosted the windows on a French door, and started cleaning out our basement in anticipation for the One Room Challenge (which starts this week!).
Good thing I had made some energy balls to keep up with all the work I had to do this month haha! Can I let you in on a secret? I’ve also started on some other projects (namely painting our Master bedroom) and I will be sharing all the details with you after the ORC/basement bathroom is done (so you’ll have to wait until June probably haha!).
It was also my birthday in March, and other than dying my hair at the start of the month, I didn’t do too much to celebrate. Actually, I had the worst night sleep and woke up with the flu (awful right?) so spent the entire day in bed. I think I was awake maybe 5 combined hours that day (unless you count the tossing and turning during the night) so I didn’t feel too “excited” to be getting older…
(Tootsie still pretending she can help with renovation projects… so cute).
Book(s) Read in March
I was super productive this month and managed to finish reading What’s a Homeowner to Do, and all of Wake up Happy by Michael Strahan. I have two books waiting for me at the library (a fiction and another motivation-type book) so I should hopefully read both of those in April if I keep up my good pace.
Last month I explained that I would not be sharing all the renovation-type products I bring in (which is good for you because that list would be extensive with all the bathroom stuff I have bought so far!). So here is the actual, non-bathroom related list:
- Tootsie toothpaste + toothbrush
- Reinforced paper holes (for this project)
- Thank you cards + envelopes
- Baby items (delivered)
- Drop cloth (a birthday gift from my Mom!)
- A basket (from this fruit basket gift)
- Scentsy washer whiffs + light bulbs
- Renovation stuff?
- 5 pantry items
Okay, so I totally splurged and got some washer whiffs from Scentsy, which is an “unnecessary” item when you think about it really. All they do is add extra smell to your laundry (like Downy Scent Boosters). But seriously… I am in love! I used some before but had run out a few months ago and finally stocked up again. I couldn’t wait to do lots of laundry to test out all the smells and see which one is my favourite (I still can’t decide!).
But that did force me to wash a bunch of sheets and stuff (including the mattress protectors, and my curtains in the bedroom) so let’s just say it was a normal part of spring cleaning? Haha I also went through our pantry and found 5 expired items, so those went into the trash too. I didn’t get rid of anything else unfortunately :(
Plans for April 2016
If you’re a diligent reader, you know we’re kicking our bathroom renovation project into high-gear this month. So please be prepared for all things bathroom and craziness :)
On the weekends I like to slow things down and talk about non-renovation stuff, just to break up all the DIY and design content around here – so if you’re looking for a respite from my bathroom project, then check back in on Saturdays to see some different projects.
Off the blog, my friends and family are joining me a weekend this month for the baby shower – so that should be exciting. I actually have NO idea what is planned, and other than the Name the Baby game, I am out of the loop. They’re also coming right in the middle of our bathroom work, so either I have to hurry and finish things during the week when they are not here, or force them to help me when they visit :) Since I do most of the finishing DIY work around here, a lot of the “later” bathroom tasks only involve me (but I may have to also force the Husband to help a little bit too).
And here is the most current baby bump picture. Note to self: make sure camera is charged before trying to take a bunch of pictures. I’m officially starting to get more tired, not sleepy-wise like the first trimester, but more like I am aware how much harder things are to try and accomplish with a big baby belly. It seems like I need to double the amount of time I assume projects will take me because sometimes I just need to sit/lay down and take a break! I’m hoping this six-week One Room Challenge doesn’t turn into the 12-week challenge…
That should be it for my plans for April 2016… can you believe we’re already in the 4th month of 2016? I see bloggers (in southern places obviously) prepping their gardens for the summer, and while we are hoping for the warm weather to stick around here, I kind of wouldn’t mind a bit of extra time to finish my extensive list of indoor projects (before I even think of the outdoors!). Is it warm where you are? Snowy and winter-y still, or full of southern sun!? What are your plans for April 2016?
See you next time :)
