Can you believe we’ve been living in this house for five years!? Even though we’re in the middle of our basement bathroom renovation, I thought it would be a good idea to show what our house looks like as-is. Which means messy, ha. But there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and this five year home tour video shows some great progress. And maybe some hints at future projects too :)
I almost didn’t post a home tour video, but I’m squeaking one in a little late this year. We bought this house in March 2020 (right at the start of the pandemic!) and I can’t believe how much has changed since then.
Some things to note about this home tour. Typically, I’ve filmed them around March 20th (our move-in date), but this year I was late. Funnily enough, we got a foot of snow last week and all the exterior photos are from April 9th. (Plenty has melted since then, thank goodness).
The BIGGEST change to our exterior is our asphalted driveway! Oh my goodness, does it make the snow shoveling a lot better! Now our grass won’t be filled with rocks, yay.
We also added a gate to go to the yard with our house number. Considering we had a piece of wood there for years (to block the dog from escaping), this is a big upgrade.
Our walkway to the house is also asphalted, but you can’t tell in the photo above. As of today it is almost totally cleared. (There is still the big pile of snow blocking our parking spot and in the garden bed).
The snow on the boulevards (the spot between the sidewalk and road) is also melted, but there’s a big road sand mess. We’re still one parking spot narrower in our driveway, but we’ll get there eventually :)

In years’ past, I’ve included updated photos in my blog post. Unfortunately, I was feeling a bit lazy this year and skipped them. I did use some older photos in the video, and even added some “real-life” videos too.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading/watching our five year home tour! Not sure how many more years we’ll be in this house (my plans/dream is to build) but it really works well for us now.
Up next I’ll be sharing our completed bathroom (fingers crossed it’s soon). We’re much farther along than the video above shows, and our big holdup right now is the tile delivery. As soon as the floors are installed, we can then put back the toilet and install the new vanity/sink that isn’t really a vanity.
And then maybe we can address the issues with the upstairs bathroom :)
